If you watch videos on your PC, ever (not including Youtube videos) you need this program. VLC allows you to watch any video or any audio format right in one program. Videos that for some reason did not work before may work now, only on VLC. No longer must you continuously switch between Quicktime and Media Player. Furthermore, VLC does not check for region codes so your PC can become a
multi-region DVD player!* Download it
here now for free.
Available for Mac OS X, Windows XP, 200 and Vista (there is also a version for Me, 98 and 95)
and Linux.
*On certain computers, specifically some Mac laptops, the multi-region capabilities have not worked due to limitations in the disc drive.

Just a general question. I am a busy mother. I want a computer that I don't have to think about, but gives me maximum efficiency - without technical issues. I run my own business and have four kids. What would be the best computer for me as far as ease of use?
I've given this some thought and I think the best choice for you is to get a Mac. Why? Because you don't have to think about it - ever. You'll never even have to de-fragment the hard drive, so yes, you'll always get maximum efficiency. I guess you are looking for a midrange priced, computer so I would suggest an iMac: a beautiful computer which runs surprisingly well. Surprisingly well in that its more powerful than it looks. You'll find that its pretty fast. I have an older model and love it.

You could also buy a Mac mini, which is cheaper, and slightly less powerful. Most people wouldn't really notice much difference, until they tried to run lots of applications simultaneously or play the latest 3d games. If you decide this is the one you prefer, you'll need to have a USB mouse, keyboard and monitor, this does not come with them.

If you are looking for a laptop, the Macbook, not the Macbook Pro, seems to be perfect. The Macbook caters towards the more general audience, the Macbook Pro is for people who require a lot of horsepower for things like development or high-level video editing.

Bear in mind that for a Mac, you'll need all new programs. If this is not feasible, whether you need a Windows specific program or just don't want to have to buy Microsoft Office over again or whatever your reason you'll need a Windows PC. Check out my latest post for info on the best Windows PCs availible. I hope I was of help.
